The system has brought torrential rains in several parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai during last 2 days. Andhra Pradesh has also come under its purview and now it’s time for Odisha to brace up for heavy to extremely heavy showers. Roanu brought 30 mm of rainfall in Bangalore, taking the cumulative rain figure to 86 mm for May. This is the second spell of good showers in Bangalore this month after May 6, when the city had received 47 mm of rain. Also read, Probable cyclone to intensify Bangalore rains As have been reiterated by Skymet, a cyclonic storm in its wake dominates weather activity and formation of other systems in its proximity. The wind discontinuity which keeps oscillating during the pre-Monsoon season over Peninsular India is also missing at present. Therefore, we can say that no weather system will form in this part of the country for next 3 to 4 days. Thereafter, the weather system brewing in the Arabian Sea will gain enough strength to bring intense weather activity in Bangalore. Gradually, Monsoon will start making its presence felt as we come close to the onset date of Monsoon 2016. For the time being, temperatures will not rise to a great extent. Today afternoon at about 2.30 pm the mercury was settled at 28°C. So we can expect pleasant weather conditions to prevail till the onset of Monsoon. Image Credit - dnaindia.com

Featured - Bangalore - May 29

Inside - Bangalore - May 29 Since last 48 hours many parts of Bangalore have been receiving moderate rain and thundershower as Monsoon like rainfall activity has already picked up pace in most parts of Kerala. Moderate winds from Arabian Sea from westerly direction are reaching interior peninsular India including south interior Karnataka. Therefore humidity has increased over entire area along with rain intensity and spread that has already increased. Now we expect that scattered rain and thundershowers will continue over Bangalore till June 1. Thereafter intensity is expected to increase and frequent spell of rain and thundershower will commence. Today, as on May 29, cloud cover has already increased and sky of Bangalore is cloudy and we expect thundershower activity during late evening and night. This will hamper the finals of IPL that is being played at M. Chinnaswamy stadium in the city. As these rains are pre-Monsoon rains therefore most probable times are late afternoon and evening and sometimes during early morning hours. Weather normally clears up during noon, and again as the temperature starts rising and due to high temperature and available humidity in the atmosphere leads to cloud formation. During this time of the year convective clouds form during afternoon and thundershower & thunderstorm activities are expected. As we will advance in the second week of June, these thundershower & thunderstorm will be replaced by continuous rains and transition from pre-Monsoon to Monsoon will take place. On and off rain and thundershower will continue over Bangalore. Image Credit: NewIndianExpress
